Orion likes to think that I am heartless, that my family means nothing to me but in fact they mean everything. He is wrong because they mean the world to me, but years of pseudo-rejection from them has ruined any outward feelings I might want to show. I care. More than I will ever let on for fear of being ignored and because of this I seem cold. Does it mean something, that I know the rejection isn't real?
Should I show them more, tell them more? There is a cap on my affection, rationed and controlled with an expertise years in the making. If I could, if I wanted to show more; I am not sure that I would be able too. Love, warmth, enjoyment. These are all distant memories to me, forever ruined by the curse my touch brings. They are darkened by the past of someone else. It is not these people I resent, but my family for reasons unknown. Any affliction I have with the people I touch is diverted to my anger with my parents. I wish I was normal, that I could love my family like I should, like they deserve. That is not me, though. I am Maxine Stiltner, closed off and cynical. The reasons though, that I am the way I am, are substantial.
Alice is here and her presence unnerves me. She is everything I am not and for that I resent her, but Orion asked me if I was happy she was here. My answer was not resounding so he took it as a no. If I had to think about it, really think, then I would say, yes. Yes, I am happy she is here because she is one of my last lines to humanity. I feel myself slowly disconnecting from them, intertwining more and more with Air. He is always there for me, I can not turn away from him because that is turning away from myself and from someone who has been with me unfailingly. My only friend when I was alone. I am Air and he is me, but can I stay in a place that is slowly becoming foreign?

Physical Description: Long blonde hair, blue eyes and a curvy frame she stands at about 5'6 and half. Max usually wears casual and comfortable clothes, is never one to be seen in shorts but will occasionally wear capri pants. She wears solid colours that vary in brightness depending on the weather and her mood.
Personality: Because of her childhood, Max is a bit of a reclusive and quiet person now. She's a generally friendly and nice person but can be a bit of a cold bitch if she's in a bad mood. Max won't touch or shake your hand and in fact avoids all physical contact with people because of her powers. Except when she's drunk, Max has found that when she is a little drunk, her powers are nulled a bit and the frequency drops so she can touch people or things without the fear of seeing anything major.

History:
Born in Foxham, Wiltshire, to very young parents, Max was raised by her grandparents until she was about 7 when her parents decided to raise their child as they travelled the world. It was a couple years later that her younger sister, Bianca was born and her parents settled for a few years in France where they had their final child they named Lily and eventually moved back to Foxham.
Being torn away from her grandparents and shipped around the world turned Max into a shy and quiet child. While her parents were just trying to show her the world and thought what they were doing was best for her, it changed little Maxine from a happy child into a homesick, lonely one. When she finally returned to her grandparents at 14, she was much changed and her grandmother resumed the secret lessons they had been doing before she left. Maxine was an Air Elemental and her grandmother taught her everything she knew, taught her how to use and hone her skills.
The winter after returning home, Maxine fell through the ice at the local pond receiving quite a severe head injury. Upon waking she was dismayed to find that she was in receipt of new powers, that if she touched something she would get flashes of a persons history or even inanimate objects. Exactly what a young girl needs. Suffice it to say she became very distant, physically and ultimately emotionally from not only her family but people in general.
Eventually leaving her family, Maxine attended Oxford University where she graduated from the Philosophy Program with Honours, moving on to Cambridge she got her Graduate and Masters in Philosophy (also with Honours) and finally ended up at Columbia University trying for her Doctorate. Hearing that a relative of hers, who lived in the small town of Scarlet Oak, had died and left her a small book store, Max dropped out just a few credits shy of her Doctorate. Deciding instead to run the place.
Since the Light of May: Doesn't really care, she's heard of hunters and so doesn't broadcast her abilities but other than that it doesn't bother her. It was certainly a shock, but she's over it and it very open minded about other people and their abilities.
Special Skills/Abilities: Excellent cook and talented photographer.
Personal Weaknesses:
Laziness - She likes to just breeze through things, while in University she didn't try as hard as she could and still graduated with honours. So far it hasn't steered her wrong.
Procrastination - I'll do it later. She dropped out of Columbia on the pretense that she'd 'finish later' and it's been three years since she left.
Unsocial - She's lived in Scarlet Oak for three years and doesn't know that many people. This is because she is quiet and solitary in nature, but her psychic powers don't help.
Alcohol - Max usually starts drinking at around noon most days and is buzzed almost all day. She is on the verge of alcoholism because of the effect it has on her powers.
Personal Strengths:
Open - Although she is a little anti-social, she is actually a very open person about what she's thinking and feeling and is also very open to other people's feelings as well.
Intelligent - Max is extremely smart, bordering on genius if she actually tried to apply herself to anything for long enough. English, History, Math, Science, they've always come easily and naturally to Max.
